This year's Nevada State Fair will recognize and reward the outstanding youth exhibitor with a $500.00 scholarship to any accredited university, college or vocational school in the state of Nevada.

The competition is open to all Nevada high school students who are entering 12th grade or students who graduated from high school in June of 2008, and who have entered one or more of the categories listed in the 2008 Nevada State Fair Competition Guide.

The scholarship will not be available to the immediate family or relatives of the scholarship selection committee.

The student awarded the scholarship must meet the minimum requirements for and attend an accredited university, college or vocational school in the State of Nevada.

The Nevada State Fair will place the scholarship funds in an account payable to the university, college or vocational school attended by this year's winner. The funds will be disbursed toward the student's tuition.

The application form of the scholarship award follows these guidelines, or you may call the Nevada State Fair Office at 775-688-5767 to have an application mailed to you.

All applications must be submitted to the Fair Office at 1350-A North Wells Avenue, Reno, NV 89512 by Monday, August 4, 2008. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

The award will be made on the basis of demonstrated excellence of the exhibitor's competition entry, the application form and the essay. Entrants will be asked to describe their community involvement and to complete an essay of 100 words or less on "How I will benefit from participating in the 2008 Nevada State Fair." The winning entry will be announced on Sunday, August 24, 2008.
